Session 3: The Importance of Knowing the Holy Spirit

SINGAPORE, 20 NOVEMBER 2008 — CONFERENCE DELEGATES had enjoyed two sessions of faith-impartation, but they were far from satisfied. The third session of the Asia Conference kicked off with Don Moen with the prayerful “Thank You Lord”, while Eurovision legend Carola Häggkvist and pianist Jonas Myrin tenderized the hearts of the crowd with a beautiful, yet-to-be-released song, ‘Grace’. Every single word of the song came from a soul that longs for God’s grace to flow continually.

The Holy Spirit proved to be the focus of Day 2, after Phil Pringle moved in the Spirit and prophesied over foreign delegates, Ulf Ekman gave the crowd an intimate look into the very Person behind the power and mighty works: the Holy Spirit Himself.

Our highest calling as a child of God is to draw near to God and know Him in the fullness of His being. Oftentimes we trivialize the Holy Spirit and lose grasp of who He really is. There is more God wants to manifest through the Holy Spirit and we ought to long and thirst for it, said Ekman.

Ekman spoke of the life and love among the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that has been since before there was time. The Holy Triune continually invites mankind to draw to this unity so that the life of God can flow in and through them. All the stronger is the call for the Body of Christ to move in this degree of unity to impact this world in significant ways.

The life of God is in every believer through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. With Him comes an infinite supply of power, wisdom, divine love, strength, joy and peace. When obstacles seem insurmountable, He gives us the faith and grace to overcome. When forgiveness is too hard for one to give, the Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses.

Deeper sensitivity, communion and an intimate relationship with a mighty God is what sets the church apart. It is the kind of church that will touch lives and leave a legacy in this world and for the generations to come.

In closing, Kong exhorted the people to let go of the ‘I’-factor, ie self-centredness, and begin to live a life for God and in God through the help of the Holy Spirit. Having the garbage out of our lives, the Holy Spirit can work more freely and mightily in us for God’s glory.
