The Miracles Are Still In The House

Last weekend saw a powerful move of the Holy Spirit as healing broke forth in City Harvest’s Dialect Church.

The Miracles Are Still In The House “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20.

Truly, the power of God was what many of City Harvest Church’s Dialect Church members experienced firsthand during last weekend’s service on May 12 with Malaysian evangelist Rev. John Ng at the Church’s premises in Jurong West.

One of them was 84-year-old Au Ang Fong. Twenty years ago, Au met with a motorbike accident which left him with impaired mobility; that very day, he came to service, walking stick in hand.

As Ng expounded on the encounter between the Samaritan woman and Jesus from chapter 4 in the Book of John, preaching about Jesus being Teacher, Prophet, Christ and Savior, faith started building up in Au’s heart.

When the preacher declared that God wanted to heal those who were suffering from injuries sustained from accidents, Au took a step of faith and stood up to walk. To his amazement, he realized that he was able to walk without his walking stick. “He was so happy that he gave away his walking stick after the service!” shares Dialect Church pastor Maria Tok.

It was one of the numerous healings that took place during that evangelistic healing service. To cap a miracle-filled meeting, 35 salvation decisions were made for Christ.

The Miracles Are Still In The House Known for his healing and deliverance ministry of over 20 years, Ng had previously preached at the Dialect Church in September 2012. With attendance numbering 438, it was a better-than-expected turnout. “We did not anticipate a good turnout as it was Mother’s Day and a handful of our members were unable to come as they had already made Mother’s Day plans with their children,” recalls Tok.

“Five minutes before the service started, all the buses (the Dialect Church buses 95 percent of its congregation to church) had arrived, but there were still many empty seats.” But as praise and worship began, more people trickled in.

As Ng shared his testimony of how his own mother was healed by the Lord of her arthritis, he challenged the congregation, which throughout the meeting had been a rather subdued crowd, to participate by lifting their hands. “How many of you are Christians?” “How many of you believe that Jesus is Lord?” “How many of you believe that Jesus will heal you?” he shouted.

As hands started going up, Ng proclaimed that many had been healed of problems in their limbs, especially those who had been involved in accidents. Ng then encouraged those who felt they had received healing to stand up and testify on stage.

Among many, there was Wong Ah Sing, 77, who makes her living by collecting empty cans. Six months earlier, she started experiencing pain in her arms, complaining to church volunteers that she was unable to lift them up without discomfort. Upon hearing the Word being preached, she took a step of faith and lifted her arms. She knew that she was healed, as she could lift her arms without feeling any pain.

After she underwent an operation to remove a growth in her body about six years ago, 75-year-old Chan A Nooi Helen suffered from deterioration in her eyesight. She became almost deaf in one ear, and her mouth movement was so affected that she needed another operation in order to be able to consume food. At the service, she found that her hearing improved significantly.

In God’s divine grace, one of the most dramatic healings happened to a newcomer, 64-year-old Tan Sai Moy, who was invited to the service by her daughter, City Harvest member Angeline See. With some bow-leggedness in her right leg after she started suffering from arthritis a year ago, Tan had been walking with a limp; she could neither squat nor bend.

As prayers were made for healing by the preacher, she tried walking, and discovered that she was able to squat and walk straight without pain and support. Not only that, she was cured of her bow-leggedness. That day, she accepted Jesus into her heart, as did her husband.

“It’s a miracle, God really touched their hearts. During the Saturday service with Dr. A R Bernard, I was reminded that our Christian life is all about faith. So on my way to pick my parents up for service, I prayed for God to do a salvation miracle, a healing miracle. By faith, I confessed the promises of God. For so many years, I prayed for their salvation and I even wondered if they would ever accept Christ. I am really touched. God’s ways are higher than ours!” says See.
