8 Ways For CHC Youth To Spend Their Weekend

Young CHC members looking to hang out with their cell group members after service now have their own space: the Youth Hub.

Given the sweltering heat in Singapore these couple of months, who can blame Singaporeans for staying indoors where there is air-conditioning? With large crowds everywhere in Suntec City mall, it can be hard for City Harvest Church members to find a place for fellowship after worship services on weekends. This is an even greater challenge for students who have large cell groups and limited pocket money.

CHC has a solution for its youth: why not linger on in church? Every weekend, the Hotspot at Suntec Singapore’s hall 605 is transformed into the Youth Hub half an hour after service ends.

Here are eight great reasons to head to the Youth Hub:

1. Groove To City Radio’s Music
Fellowship feels even better with uplifting praise and worship songs streamed from City Radio’s siren red booth. Enjoy the company of your fellow cell group members to a backdrop of great Christian music.

2. Play Ping Pong
Grab a friend and get those muscles moving! Unleash your inner Li Jiawei and get a good workout at the table tennis table right in front of City Radio’s booth.

3. Play Xbox
If video games are your thing, you won’t want to miss the Xbox One console set up right in front of the Visitors’ Corner! There is ample space for you to shoot, swerve, strike and slay a storm with your cell group!

4. Board games
If table tennis is too exhausting and video games are too stimulating, why not bond with your cell group mates over a board game like Resistance, Snorta, Dixit or Spot It? Youth Hub offers a large variety of these games—a great chance to expand your universe beyond Uno, Monopoly and Game Of Life.

5. Foosball Table
For reasons unknown, the foosball table is a crowd magnet. Everyone from preschool kids to  adults love to jostle with the rods and send a miniature ball into the goalpost. Good news, the Youth Hub has two foosball tables to ensure everyone gets a chance to play.

6. Meet Other Churchgoers from Different Pastoral Zones
Want to get to know more people within CHC? Since everyone is gathering in a common space, you may spot familiar faces from school that are from another pastoral zone. Youth Hub is a great place to get to know one another and organize after-school fellowships.

7. Jam
The centrepiece of the hall, affectionately called the Tree of Life by CHC members, makes a perfect space to gather, take pictures, give announcements and read. On top of that, it is also the perfect spot to play your guitars, pull together some covers and sing your heart out! Bring your guitars, your best Taylor Swift rendition and jam your hearts out.

8. Drink Great Coffee
Come support “Drink Coffee, Do Good”! The coffee station set up next to the City Radio booth is the place where CHC’s newest ministry, Barista Ministry, serves up an aromatic cup. Savour a cuppa coffee and make a monetary contribution to CHC’s community service arm, City Harvest Community Services Association. Coffee will be served for an hour after service.

The Youth Hub is open exclusively to CHC members and friends on weekends and commences 30 minutes after service.
Saturdays: 8-10pm
Sundays: 1-4pm
For Youth Hub’s opening schedules, check with the respective cell group leaders.
