Singaporean fans enjoyed a Labor Day treat as their golden-voiced idol, Taiwanese songstress Tsai Chin delivered a long-awaited performance at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Labor Day evening, four years after her last showcase here.

Well-known for her husky voice and her witty persona, Tsai lived up to the expectations as she belted out timeless favorites including “When Will The Day Come Again” (“He Re Jun Zai Lai”), “Love Never Fails (“Xin Bu Liao Qin”) and “The Last Night (“Qui Hou Yi Ye”).

Tsai’s singing career spans over three decades, after she released her first debut record in 1979. Her popularity rose to a peak in Taiwan from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s, but she still remains popular in mainland China.

She also sang other famous hits including “The Forgotten Time” (“Bei Yi Wang De Shi Wang”), “Just Like Your Tenderness” (“Chai Shi Ni De Wen Rong”), “The Last Night” (“Zu Huo Yi Ye”), “Reading You” (“Du Ni”) and “The Spirit Of Your Eyes” (“Ni De Yan Sheng”) before bringing the concert to a rewarding close.

50 albums and countless sold-out concerts later, Tsai’s still here doing what she does best, and that’s a lot more than what many in her industry have achieved.
