In this testimony, which the church heard on Feb 12 and 13, a single mom of two boys, shared how the different Church Without Wall initiatives helped her and her two children.
“My name is Sarah and I came from Vietnam in 2013. I have two boys aged 8 and 10 years old. I am working as a kitchen assistant to support them. As a single mother, I always feel lost and alone. It is not easy to raise two boys, taking care of them and providing for them all by myself. There were so many times that I felt like giving up.
“I am so thankful that last year in August I met Teacher Wendy. Through her, I learnt about City Harvest Church, and I signed my children up for the Reading and Tuition Programmes. It has helped my two boys in their studies.
“They also started attending Harvest Kidz weekly services online. They are always looking forward to attending every session. The teachers are very loving, caring and patient towards them.
“I was struggling financially as I was not earning a lot. I applied for the Church Without Walls Financial Assistance and the church started helping me with monthly groceries.
THE HELP THAT CAME IN TIMES OF NEED
“There were members of the church who heard about my situation and some cell groups came together to sponsor my eldest son’s Primary school fees for the entire year of 2022. I am so touched by the love and generosity shown to us.
“In September, The Blessing Project team visited us and celebrated my younger son’s birthday. They bought him a birthday cake, balloons and presents. We are truly so blessed and loved to have the church celebrating his birthday. We have never felt so loved and blessed before in our lives.
“I stayed in an aided two-room rented flat. At the end of December, CityOutlook refurbished our house so that my children can have a conducive study area and bedroom. The team even brought my children and me for a one-night staycation so that they could do up the house. Now, we come back to a dream house daily and I am so happy. My boys love the individual study desks and the new bed. Now that they have their own study desks, they are motivated to study hard and give their best in their studies.
“The volunteers also invited me to the church service at Suntec City for the first time on Christmas day!
“Throughout the whole service, I was so overwhelmed by the love of God and kept crying. From the worship song we sang to Pastor Kong Hee’s (CHC’s senior pastor) sharing, every single moment touched my heart. I was always feeling lost and had thoughts of giving up but now, I realised that God loves and cares for me so much. I can have hope because of Jesus Christ. I really experienced the love and the presence of God. That night I slept like a baby because my heart was full of peace with God. Hallelujah!
“My children also attended Harvest Kidz on-site service that weekend for the first time, and they enjoyed themselves so much!
“I just want to thank Teacher Wendy and City Harvest Church for reaching out and helping me and my children. We are so blessed by the love and goodness of God!”
