Join TOUCH Young Arrows and run for a good cause this March.
Run and Raisin’ is back! Organized by TOUCH Young Arrows, an offshoot of TOUCH Community Services, this yearly charity run gets serious this year.
Held at East Coast Park on Mar. 31, this year’s Run and Raisin’ will include a competitive 10km race to cater to avid runners, with prizes for the top three positions. There will be the standard 5km leisure run, open to casual runners who just want to run for fun and to do good at the same time. Registration is at S$30 for 5km and S$40 for 10km, and group discounts apply.
A carnival will be held at the open space beside carpark E2 at East Coast Park from 9am to 4pm. Coupons will be sold before and during the event itself, and can be purchased from organizers of the event or volunteers of TYA. They will be used for the food and games stalls, as well as the giant inflatable slides. All proceeds will go towards funding of TYA’s activities.
Started last year, Run and Raisin’ is organized by TOUCH Young Arrows with the aim of raising funds for the children and families under its care, increase public awareness of TYA’s work in the community, and to promote family bonding and a healthy lifestyle.
This service, under the not-for-profit charitable organization TOUCH Community Services, caters specially to children. Previously known as TOUCH Children’s Club, it has been running club activities for children from needy and disadvantaged backgrounds since 1986.
More than S$100,000 was raised in last year’s campaign with the help of sponsors and that of supporters who came down for the run and carnival. This year, the organization has upped its targeted amount to S$225,000 in order to meet the needs of TYA’s 400 children and families, and to support its weekly programmes and year-round events.
