At the Ministry Weekend last week, all 37 ministries in City Harvest Church came forth to actively recruit new volunteers.

Crowds thronged the ministry booths in Hall 603.
Cheerleaders, hippies and “Ip Man” roamed Hall 603 at Suntec Singapore. Large signs declaring “We want you!” greeted the after-service City Harvest crowd. Dance auditions were held at one corner of the hall, drawing many passersby.
These were just some of the many creative methods engaged by different CHC ministries to recruit new volunteers last weekend.
Queries were made throughout the weekend and resulted in hundreds of sign-ups.
To mark Ministry Weekend on July 23 and 24, large posters and information booths showcasing different ministries were set up at Hall 603 next to the main auditorium. Senior pastor Kong Hee had preached a powerful (and most convincing) sermon on serving the house of God, encouraging church members and visitors to visit the ministry booths and start putting their God-given talents to serve the house of God.
One such enthusiastic church member was Reeve Tan, 23, who signed up for the music ministry. “I like to play the guitar and I want to use music to bring down the presence of God,” Tan shared.
Members from cell group W189 shared their testimony on serving together at the Dialect Church service.
Eunice Lim is a real estate agent and a mother of three. Even though she is already in cell group ministry, she signed up to serve with community services. “I want to bring my children along when we do community services, like visiting the old folks home, so that they can understand how fortunate they are. I want them to learn to be a blessing to others at a young age.”
Besides wanting to use their talents to serve the house of God, there were those who wanted to sow into others just as their lives had been sown into. Eunice Yap and Grace Wong started attending Children’s Church when they were only 10 years old. They are now 14 years old and are eager to give back to the place they grew up in. “I want to go back to serve in this ministry because just as the teachers took care of us, we want to take care of the children too,” said Yap.
