If you work in Raffles Place or Orchard, chances are you might have spotted a bunch of two-legged “zebras” doing what looked like a mass funk dance last Friday, April 1—no, it was not an April Fool’s joke by the Singapore Zoo. It was, in fact, a guerilla marketing event by the perennially cool Swatch to launch of its new Animal Collection.

Trust the people known for turning the utilitarian timepiece into a fashion accessory to be on-trend. Taking a cue from the catwalks, which has recently seen a resurgence of animal prints, the Animal Collection features bold black-and-white stripe straps with neon-colored faces that come in bright orange, blue, yellow, blue and more.

The “zebras”, comprising 40 dancers in morphsuits, performed a snazzy dance number before going around taking pictures with curious passers-by. The event is part of a worldwide marketing campaign happening in other major cities around the world including London, Madrid, Hong Kong and New York.

The Animal Collection retails for S$82 from all Swatch outlets island-wide.
