Calling all aspiring filmmakers—leading electronics and consumer products manufacturer Toshiba has announced the inaugural Toshiba Creative Challenge 2010, a new student film-making competition supported by both the National Youth Council and Media Development Authority. The competition is open to students from all tertiary institutions in Singapore.
The theme for the first Toshiba Creative Challenge is The Expressions of Colours. At stake is S$18,000 worth of cash and prizes to be awarded for submissions which best interpret this theme. The grand prize is S$5,000 and a Toshiba 42” REGZA LED TV, to be awarded for the Best Inspirational Video. Additionally, the winning students will have their works showcased at Toshiba roadshows and events worldwide.
While entries can either be an animation or film, they must contain dynamic, vibrant, fresh, energetic and lively images and contain positive messages, and be between two to three minutes long. Students will be allowed to enter individually or as a team, but will be limited to one entry per student.
A panel of judges which includes key representatives from Toshiba Singapore will evaluate entries based on creativity, drawing power, visual impact, expert technical execution and overall positive impression. The deadline for submission is Jan. 21, 2011, 5 p.m.
