March 27 to 28 was a special weekend in City Harvest for many parents with children under two years of age.
A total of 142 babies were dedicated to the Lord over the four English services at the Singapore Expo and Jurong West premises. Senior pastor, Kong Hee shared the example how Jesus was brought to the temple when He was just eight years old.

Baby dedication is a significant symbol for many parents in CHC. For Stephen and Rebecca Pok, it is a way of acknowledging God’s gift to them and they believe that God will take care of their daughter Joey and use her for His glory in the years ahead. To Evan and Natalia Halim, it is an act of faith to dedicate the future of their 6-month-old son, Denver, to God, and to let him experience God at an early age.

Gracing this special occasion during the Saturday Expo service were Drs. Isaac and Shirley Lim whose second grandson was being dedicated. Lim prayed over the children, giving thanks to God for the gifts that were given to these parents and to the church. He also prayed that God would touch them and bless them in a special and powerful way, and that they would grow up in the love of Jesus. Dr. Paul Kim of Jubilee Christian Center in the US, and Matt and Laurie Crouch of Trinity Broadcast Network were also present to pray for the babies.

Kong then went ahead to lay hands on every baby; a gesture that meant a lot to parents, Derrick and Rusnany Lim, whose first-born, 15-month-old Annabelle, was dedicated to God.

As the prayers ended, the parents proudly held their babies up high for the congregation to see. And as the camera panned across the stage, it was touching to witness parents like Chris and Gloria Yeo, dedicating their three-month-old Evans in an act of asking God’s presence to descend upon his life.

For this writer, the weekend brought back fond memories for my wife, Eileen and I, as we recalled when we dedicated our children Kendrick and Karis to God, nine and seven years ago. Today, our children are great testimonies to their grandparents, relatives and classmates.
