An Afternoon of Music at Love The World

Situated at the base of the Singapore Flyer, Love the World Soul Rock Bistro and Bar played host to over 100 adults and youth from City Harvest Church’s YK Zone for an afternoon of good food, great company and excellent music on 26 April.

Smartly-designed and well-furnished with essentials such as classic wooden stools, velvet-backed chairs and neon lightning, Love The World’s cozy interior creates the ideal ambience for couples and friends to de-stress and chill out after a long day at work. Overlooking Singapore waters and the newly constructed F1 racetrack, the bistro and bar included a spacious alfresco area where patrons can enjoy the fresh sea breeze and picturesque landscape.

Director and owner of Love the World Soul Rock, Samuel Seong Koon, warmly welcomed the zone members in.  The aroma of the buffet was tantalising and the crowd wasted no time in queuing up for dishes like Crispy Wonton and Chocolate Eclairs.

Love the World hosts jamming sessions every Sunday — patrons are encouraged to share their passion for music-making, and are free to use the  in-house and state-of-the-art band equipment.

This Sunday was no exception. The crowd cheered as individuals stepped into the limelight and rendered a myriad of chart-topping hits such as John Mayer’s ‘Daughters, Howie Day’s ‘Collide’ and Oasis’ ‘Iris’.

The highlight of the afternoon was a stellar performance by zone pastor, Goh Yock Kiang, who charmed the crowd with Mandarin pop hits, and a heart-warming rendition of Michael Smith’s ‘There Is None Like You’.

It was truly an amazing experience for all. Zone member Ling Jicai said, “I felt that all the performances were great! Also, it was a rare opportunity  to see Pastor Yock Kiang perform live!”

Fellow member Daryl Liu commented, “This bistro and bar is great! The owners even run different events to gather people together, and this is a great place for singles to meet. The band also plays everything from jazz to rock.”

Looks like this was just the first of many future gatherings at Love the World.
