Some people have sallow and dull skin, while others may have a reddish skin tone. The key to looking like you have great skin is to use a corrective makeup base.

I’m going to tell you about the different shades of corrective makeup base and the type of skin tones they can help to adjust.

Corrective makeup bases are light liquid makeup that can soften the skin and some even offer protection from the sun (SPF).

Makeup base is essential for a flawless, long-lasting complexion ‘with or without foundation, as it prepares the skin for make-up application.

There are seven shades of makeup base, and what each does:

Neutral Base #0 Neutral or light beige base is the most common. It evens out the complexion and optimizes foundation, making it last longer
Green Base #1 Green base tones down a red complexion.
Mauve Base #2 Light purple or lavender base lights up yellowish and sallow complexions, adjust them so that they have a warm pink undertone.
White Base #3 White base gives the fair-skinned a porcelain look. Some of them might contain a bit of shimmer — try to avoid these if you have oily skin, as they may amplify open pores and oily skin condition.
Apricot Base #4 Apricot-coloured base revives a tan and illuminates dark skin.
Blue Base #5 Blue base helps to brighten fair skin and tone down any slight redness.
Yellow Base #6 Yellow base lightens a dark complexion and gives it that bronze, healthy tone.
